There is no Word 2017 in Windows. There is Word 2016/365.

Are you opening Word by double-clicking on a document?

With Word closed, right-click on the and choose Open with. Then pick word 2016.

If that does not work, reregister Word using the /r command-line.

On my computer, the command would be:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16\WINWORD.EXE" /r

You get to that pressing Windows+R

I have tried opening with selecting Word 2016 and it still reverts to 2010 v. When i look the r command you mentioned. WINWORD.EXE does not exist in that location. In Office14 it does, however. I do not understand why it is an issue all of a sudden?

Then, you have to find out where the winword.exe file for Office 2016 does exist.
